In 1986 LOWBEN and the BIGBEN premiums for a $50 nursing home indemnity level ranged from $584. A year for those aged 67, up to $1, 64.2 for those aged 81. LOWBEN’s additional $.40 and $30 indemnity levels require premiums that are 80 percent and 60 percent, respectively, of the $50 indemnity level premium. In both options once a policy is purchased, premiums remain constant over time. For new purchasers after 1986, the initial premium and benefit are assumed to increase 5.8 percent a year.
